3For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires
4and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”

3Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.
4They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”

3Porque ustedes saben esto primero, que en los últimos días vendrán burlones con su burla, procediendo según sus propios deseos
4y diciendo: “¿Dónde está esa prometida presencia de él? Pues, desde el día en que nuestros antepasados se durmieron [en la muerte], todas las cosas continúan exactamente como desde el principio de la creación”.

1A son is wise where there is a father’s discipline, but the ridiculer is one that has not heard rebuke.

1A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.
