(14-39) ¹⁴But Peter stood up with the eleven and raised his voice and made this utterance to them: “Men of Judea and all YOU inhabitants of Jerusalem, let this be known to YOU and give ear to my sayings. ¹⁵These [people] are, in fact, not drunk, as YOU suppose, for it is the third hour of the day. ¹⁶On the contrary, this is what was said through the prophet Joel, ¹⁷‘“And in the last days,” God says, “I shall pour out some of my spirit upon every sort of flesh, and YOUR sons and YOUR daughters will prophesy and YOUR young men will see visions and YOUR old men will dream dreams; ¹⁸and even upon my men slaves and upon my women slaves I will pour out some of my spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. ¹⁹And I will give portents in heaven above and signs on earth below, blood and fire and smoke mist; ²⁰the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and illustrious day of Jehovah arrives. ²¹And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.”’

²²“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man publicly shown by God to YOU through powerful works and portents and signs that God did through him in YOUR midst, just as YOU yourselves know, ²³this [man], as one delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, YOU fastened to a stake by the hand of lawless men and did away with. ²⁴But God resurrected him by loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to continue to be held fast by it. ²⁵For David says respecting him, ‘I had Jehovah constantly before my eyes; because he is at my right hand that I may never be shaken. ²⁶On this account my heart became cheerful and my tongue rejoiced greatly. Moreover, even my flesh will reside in hope; ²⁷because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your loyal one to see corruption. ²⁸You have made life’s ways known to me, you will fill me with good cheer with your face.’

²⁹“Men, brothers, it is allowable to speak with freeness of speech to YOU concerning the family head David, that he both deceased and was buried and his tomb is among us to this day. ³⁰Therefore, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath that he would seat one from the fruitage of his loins upon his throne, ³¹he saw beforehand and spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he forsaken in Hades nor did his flesh see corruption. ³²This Jesus God resurrected, of which fact we are all witnesses. ³³Therefore because he was exalted to the right hand of God and received the promised holy spirit from the Father, he has poured out this which YOU see and hear. ³⁴Actually David did not ascend to the heavens, but he himself says, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, ³⁵until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”’ ³⁶Therefore let all the house of Israel know for a certainty that God made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom YOU impaled.”

³⁷Now when they heard this they were stabbed to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: “Men, brothers, what shall we do?” ³⁸Peter [said] to them: “Repent, and let each one of YOU be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of YOUR sins, and YOU will receive the free gift of the holy spirit. ³⁹For the promise is to YOU and to YOUR children and to all those afar off, just as many as Jehovah our God may call to him.”

(14-39) ¹⁴Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. ¹⁵These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! ¹⁶No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ¹⁷“‘In the last days, God says,
   I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
   your young men will see visions,
   your old men will dream dreams.
¹⁸Even on my servants, both men and women,
   I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
   and they will prophesy.
¹⁹I will show wonders in the heavens above
   and signs on the earth below,
   blood and fire and billows of smoke.
²⁰The sun will be turned to darkness
   and the moon to blood
   before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
²¹And everyone who calls
   on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ ²²“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. ²³This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. ²⁴But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. ²⁵David said about him: ²⁶Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
   my body also will rest in hope,
²⁷because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
   you will not let your holy one see decay.
²⁸You have made known to me the paths of life;
   you will fill me with joy in your presence.’ ²⁹“Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. ³⁰But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. ³¹Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. ³²God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. ³³Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. ³⁴For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, ³⁵until I make your enemies
   a footstool for your feet.”’ ³⁶“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” ³⁷When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” ³⁸Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

²²”Varones de Israel, oigan estas palabras: A Jesús el Nazareno, varón públicamente mostrado por Dios a ustedes mediante obras poderosas y portentos presagiosos y señales que Dios hizo mediante él en medio de ustedes, así como ustedes mismos lo saben, ²³a este [hombre], como uno entregado por el consejo determinado y presciencia de Dios, ustedes lo fijaron en un madero por mano de desaforados, y lo eliminaron. ²⁴Pero Dios lo resucitó desatando los dolores de la muerte, porque no era posible que él continuara retenido por ella. ²⁵Porque David dice tocante a él: ‘Tenía a Jehová constantemente ante mis ojos; porque está a mi diestra para que yo nunca sea sacudido. ²⁶A causa de esto se alegró mi corazón y seregocijó mucho mi lengua. Además, hasta mi carne residirá en esperanza; ²⁷porque no dejarás mi alma en el Hades, ni permitirás que el que te es leal vea corrupción. ²⁸Me has dado a conocer los caminos de la vida, me llenarás de alegría con tu rostro’.

²⁹”Varones, hermanos, es permisible hablarles con franqueza de expresión respecto al cabeza de familia David, que falleció y también fue sepultado, y su tumba está entre nosotros hasta este día. ³⁰Por lo tanto, porque era profeta y sabía que Dios le había jurado con juramento que sentaría a uno del fruto de sus lomos sobre su trono, ³¹vio de antemano y habló respecto a la resurrección del Cristo, que ni fue abandonado en el Hades ni su carne vio corrupción. ³²A este Jesús lo resucitó Dios, del cual hecho todos nosotros somos testigos. ³³Por eso, debido a que fue ensalzado a la diestra de Dios y recibió del Padre el espíritu santo prometido, él ha derramado esto que ustedes ven y oyen. ³⁴De hecho, David no ascendió a los cielos, sino que él mismo dice: ‘Jehová dijo a mi Señor: “Siéntate a mi diestra, ³⁵hasta que coloque a tus enemigos como banquillo para tus pies”’. ³⁶Por lo tanto, sepa con certeza toda la casa de Israel que Dios lo hizo Señor y también Cristo, a este Jesús a quien ustedes fijaron en un madero”.

³⁷Ahora bien, cuando aquellos oyeron esto se sintieron heridos en el corazón, y dijeron a Pedro y a los demás apóstoles: “Varones, hermanos, ¿qué haremos?”. ³⁸Pedro les [dijo]: “Arrepiéntanse, y bautícese cada uno de ustedes en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de sus pecados, y recibirán la dádiva gratuita del espíritu santo. ³⁹Porque la promesa es para ustedes y para sus hijos y para todos los que están lejos, para cuantos llame a sí Jehová nuestro Dios”.

(14-17) ¹⁴When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they dispatched Peter and John to them; ¹⁵and these went down and prayed for them to get holy spirit. ¹⁶For it had not yet fallen upon any one of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ¹⁷Then they went laying their hands upon them, and they began to receive holy spirit.

(14-17) ¹⁴When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. ¹⁵When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, ¹⁶because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ¹⁷Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

(14-17) ¹⁴Cuando los apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalén oyeron que Samaria había aceptado la palabra de Dios, les despacharon a Pedro y a Juan; ¹⁵y estos bajaron y oraron para que recibieran espíritu santo. ¹⁶Porque todavía no había caído sobre ninguno de ellos, sino que solo habían sido bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús. ¹⁷Entonces se pusieron a imponerles las manos, y ellos empezaron a recibir espíritu santo.

(24-28) ²⁴On the day after that he entered into Caesarea. Cornelius, of course, was expecting them and had called together his relatives and intimate friends. ²⁵As Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet and did obeisance to him. ²⁶But Peter lifted him up, saying: “Rise; I myself am also a man.” ²⁷And as he conversed with him he went in and found many people assembled, ²⁸and he said to them: “YOU well know how unlawful it is for a Jew to join himself to or approach a man of another race; and yet God has shown me I should call no man defiled or unclean.

(24-28) ²⁴The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. ²⁵As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. ²⁶But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.” ²⁷While talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. ²⁸He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.

(24-28) ²⁴El día después de aquello entró en Cesarea.
