(23-28)
23Also, at that immediate time there was in their synagogue a man under the power of an unclean spirit, and he shouted,
24saying: “What have we to do with you, Jesus you Nazarene? Did you come to destroy us? I know exactly who you are, the Holy One of God.”
25But Jesus rebuked it, saying: “Be silent, and come on out of him!”
26And the unclean spirit, after throwing him into a convulsion and yelling at the top of its voice, came on out of him.
27Well, the people were all so astonished that they began a discussion among themselves, saying: “What is this? A new teaching! He authoritatively orders even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”
28So the report about him spread out immediately in all directions through all the country round about in Galilee.

(23-28)
23Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
24“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
25“Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”
26The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
27The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
28News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

¿Viniste a destruirnos?

(26-39)
26And they put in to shore in the country of the Gerasenes, which is on the side opposite Galilee.
27But as he got out onto land a certain man from the city who had demons met him. And for a considerable time he had not worn clothing, and he was staying, not at home, but among the tombs.
28At the sight of Jesus he cried aloud and fell down before him, and with a loud voice he said: “What have I to do with you, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.”
29(For he had been ordering the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For over a long time it had held him fast, and he was repeatedly bound with chains and fetters under guard, but he would burst the bonds and be driven by the demon into the lonely places.)
30Jesus asked him: “What is your name?” He said: “Legion,” because many demons had entered into him.
31And they kept entreating him not to order them to go away into the abyss.
32Now a herd of a considerable number of swine was feeding there on the mountain; so they entreated him to permit them to enter into those. And he gave them permission.
33Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd rushed over the precipice into the lake and drowned.
34But when the herders saw what had happened, they fled and reported it to the city and to the countryside.
35Then people turned out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons came out, clothed and in his sound mind, sitting at the feet of Jesus; and they became fearful.
36Those who had seen it reported to them how the demon-possessed man had been made well.
37So all the multitude from the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to get away from them, because they were in the grip of great fear. Then he went aboard the boat and turned away.
38However, the man from whom the demons had gone out kept begging to continue with him; but he dismissed the man, saying:
39“Be on your way back home, and keep on relating what things God did for you.” Accordingly he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what things Jesus did for him.

(26-39)
26They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee.
27When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.
28When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!”
29For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.
30Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
31And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.
32A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission.
33When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
34When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,
35and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
36Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.
37Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.
38The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39“Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

(26-39)
