1And Elijah the Tishbite from the inhabitants of Gilead proceeded to say to Ahab: “As Jehovah the God of Israel before whom I do stand is living, there will occur during these years neither dew nor rain, except at the order of my word!”

1Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

1Y Elías el tisbita, de los habitantes de Galaad, procedió a decir a Acab: “¡Tan ciertamente como que vive Jehová el Dios de Israel, delante de quien en efecto estoy de pie, no habrá durante estos años ni rocío ni lluvia, excepto por orden de mi palabra!”.

17Elijah was a man with feelings like ours, and yet in prayer he prayed for it not to rain; and it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months.

17Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
