15(John bore witness about him, yes, he actually cried out—this was the one who said [it]—saying: “The one coming behind me has advanced in front of me, because he existed before me.”)

15(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”)

15(Juan dio testimonio acerca de él, sí, realmente clamó —este fue el que [lo] dijo— diciendo: “El que viene detrás de mí se me ha adelantado, porque existió antes que yo”.)

(29-34)
29The next day he beheld Jesus coming toward him, and he said: “See, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!
30This is the one about whom I said, Behind me there comes a man who has advanced in front of me, because he existed before me.
31Even I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing in water was that he might be made manifest to Israel.”
32John also bore witness, saying: “I viewed the spirit coming down as a dove out of heaven, and it remained upon him.
33Even I did not know him, but the very One who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘Whoever it is upon whom you see the spirit coming down and remaining, this is the one that baptizes in holy spirit.’
34And I have seen [it], and I have borne witness that this one is the Son of God.”

29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’
31I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”
32Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.
33And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
34I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”

29Al día siguiente contempló a Jesús que venía hacia él, y dijo: “¡Mira, el Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo!
30Este es aquel de quien dije: Detrás de mí viene un varón que se me ha adelantado, porque existió antes que yo.
31Ni siquiera yo lo conocía, pero la razón por la cual yo vine bautizando en agua fue para que él fuera puesto de manifiesto a Israel”.
32Juan también dio testimonio, y dijo: “Vi el espíritu bajar como paloma del cielo, y permaneció sobre él.
33Ni siquiera yo lo conocía, pero El Mismo que me envió a bautizar en agua me dijo: ‘Sobre quienquiera que veas el espíritu descender y permanecer, este eselque bautiza en espíritu santo’.
34Y yo [lo] he visto, y he dado testimonio de que este es el Hijo de Dios”.
