(17-24)
17And it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick, and his sickness came to be so severe that there was no breath left in him.
18At this she said to Elijah: “What do I have to do with you, O man of the [true] God? You have come to me to bring my error to mind and to put my son to death.”
19But he said to her: “Give me your son.” Then he took him from her bosom and carried him up to the roof chamber, where he was dwelling, and laid him upon his own couch.
20And he began calling to Jehovah and saying: “O Jehovah my God, is it also upon the widow with whom I am residing as an alien that you must bring injury by putting her son to death?”
21And he proceeded to stretch himself upon the child three times and call to Jehovah and say: “O Jehovah my God, please, cause the soul of this child to come back within him.”
22Finally Jehovah listened to Elijah’s voice, so that the soul of the child came back within him and he came to life.
23Elijah now took the child and brought him down from the roof chamber into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah then said: “See, your son is alive.”
24Upon that the woman said to Elijah: “Now, indeed, I do know that you are a man of God and that Jehovah’s word in your mouth is true.”

17Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.
18She said to Elijah, “What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?”
19“Give me your son,” Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.
20Then he cried out to the LORD, “LORD my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?”
21Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the LORD, “LORD my God, let this boy’s life return to him!”
22The LORD heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.
23Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, “Look, your son is alive!”
24Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth.”

17Y después de estas cosas aconteció que el hijo de la mujer, el ama de la casa, enfermó, y su enfermedad llegó a ser tan grave que no quedó aliento en él.
18Ante esto, ella dijo a Elías: “¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, oh hombre del Dios [verdadero]? Has venido a mí para que se recuerde mi error y para dar muerte a mi hijo”.
19Pero él le dijo: “Dame tu hijo”. Entonces lo tomó del seno de ella y lo llevó arriba a la cámara en el techo, donde él moraba, y lo acostó sobre su propio lecho.
20Y empezó a clamar a Jehová y a decir: “Oh Jehová mi Dios, ¿también sobre la viuda con quien estoy residiendo como forastero tienes que traer perjuicio, dando muerte a su hijo?”.
21Y procedió a estirarse sobre el niño tres veces y a clamar a Jehová y a decir: “Oh Jehová mi Dios, por favor, haz que el alma de este niño vuelva dentro de él”.
22Finalmente Jehová escuchó la voz de Elías, de modo que el alma del niño volvió dentro de él, y llegó a vivir.
23Elías ahora tomó al niño y lo bajó desde la cámara en el techo hasta dentro de la casa, y se lo dio a su madre; y entonces dijo Elías: “Mira, tu hijo está vivo”.
24Ante esto, la mujer dijo a Elías: “Ahora, de veras, sí sé que eres un hombre de Dios, y que la palabra de Jehová en tu boca es verdadera”.
