16These men are murmurers, complainers about their lot in life, proceeding according to their own desires, and their mouths speak swelling things, while they are admiring personalities for the sake of [their own] benefit.

16These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

1Now the people became as men having something evil to complain about in the ears of Jehovah. When Jehovah got to hear it, then his anger grew hot, and a fire of Jehovah began to blaze against them and to consume some in the extremity of the camp.

1Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

1Ahora bien, el pueblo llegó a ser como hombres que tienen algo malo de qué quejarse a oídos de Jehová. Cuando Jehová llegó a oírlo, entonces su cólera se enardeció, y un fuego de Jehová empezó a encenderse contra ellos y a consumir a algunos en la extremidad del campamento.

13Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave YOU, so do YOU also.

13Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
