9Also the man at peace with me, in whom I trusted, Who was eating my bread, has magnified [his] heel against me.
|
9Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.
|

(10-11)
10Jesus said to him: “He that has bathed does not need to have more than his feet washed, but is wholly clean. And YOU men are clean, but not all.”
11He knew, indeed, the man betraying him. This is why he said: “Not all of YOU are clean.”
|
(10-11)
10Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.”
11For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.
|
(10-11)

18I am not talking about all of YOU; I know the ones I have chosen. But it is in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, ‘He that used to feed on my bread has lifted up his heel against me.’
|
18“I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned against me.’
|
