(1-6) ¹And Moses became a shepherd of the flock of Jethro, the priest of Midian, whose son-in-law he was. While he was driving the flock to the west side of the wilderness, he came at length to the mountain of the [true] God, to Horeb. ²Then Jehovah’s angel appeared to him in a flame of fire in the midst of a thornbush. As he kept looking, why, here the thornbush was burning with the fire and yet the thornbush was not consumed. ³At this Moses said: “Let me just turn aside that I may inspect this great phenomenon, as to why the thornbush is not burnt up.” ⁴When Jehovah saw that he turned aside to inspect, God at once called to him out of the midst of the thornbush and said: “Moses! Moses!” to which he said: “Here I am.” ⁵Then he said: “Do not come near here. Draw your sandals from off your feet, because the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

⁶And he went on to say: “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses concealed his face, because he was afraid to look at the [true] God.

(1-6) ¹Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. ²There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. ³So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” ⁴When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” ⁵“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” ⁶Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

(1-6) ¹Y Moisés llegó a ser pastor del rebaño de Jetró, el sacerdote de Madián, de quien era yerno. Mientras arreaba el rebaño al lado occidental del desierto, llegó por fin a la montaña del Dios [verdadero], a Horeb. ²Entonces se le apareció el ángel de Jehová en una llama de fuego en medio de una zarza. Mientras él seguía mirando, pues, he aquí que la zarza ardía con el fuego y, no obstante, la zarza no se consumía. ³Ante esto, Moisés dijo: “Solo voy a desviarme para inspeccionar este gran fenómeno, en cuanto a por qué no se quema la zarza”. ⁴Cuando Jehová vio que él se desviaba para inspeccionar, en seguida Dios lo llamó de en medio de la zarza y dijo: “¡Moisés!, ¡Moisés!”, a lo cual él dijo: “Aquí estoy”. ⁵Entonces él dijo: “No te acerques acá. Quítate las sandalias de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás de pie es suelo santo”.

⁶Y siguió diciendo: “Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob”. Entonces Moisés ocultó su rostro, porque temía mirar al Dios [verdadero].

(30-35) ³⁰“And when forty years were fulfilled, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai an angel in the fiery flame of a thornbush. ³¹Now when Moses saw it he marveled at the sight. But as he was approaching to investigate, Jehovah’s voice came, ³²‘I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob.’ Seized with trembling, Moses did not dare to investigate further. ³³Jehovah said to him, ‘Take the sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. ³⁴I have certainly seen the wrongful treatment of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning and I have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you off to Egypt.’ ³⁵This Moses, whom they disowned, saying, ‘Who appointed you ruler and judge?’ this man God sent off as both ruler and deliverer by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the thornbush.

(30-35) ³⁰“After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai. ³¹When he saw this, he was amazed at the sight. As he went over to get a closer look, he heard the Lord say: ³²‘I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.’ Moses trembled with fear and did not dare to look. ³³“Then the Lord said to him, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground. ³⁴I have indeed seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groaning and have come down to set them free. Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.’ ³⁵“This is the same Moses they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you ruler and judge?’ He was sent to be their ruler and deliverer by God himself, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

(30-35) ³⁰”Y cuando se cumplieron cuarenta años, se le apareció un ángel en el desierto del monte Sinaí, en la llama de fuego de una zarza. ³¹Pues bien, cuando Moisés vio aquello, se maravilló de la vista. Pero al acercarse para investigar, vino la voz de Jehová: ³²‘Yo soy el Dios de tus antepasados, el Dios de Abrahán y de Isaac y de Jacob’. Sobrecogido de temblor, Moisés no se atrevía a seguir investigando. ³³Jehová le dijo: ‘Quítate las sandalias de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás de pie es suelo santo. ³⁴Ciertamente he visto el maltrato de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído su gemido y he bajado para librarlos. Y ahora ven, te enviaré a Egipto’. ³⁵A este Moisés, a quien repudiaron, diciendo: ‘¿Quién te nombró a ti gobernante y juez?’, a este hombre Dios lo envió como gobernante y también como libertador por mano del ángel que se le apareció en la zarza.

⁵³YOU who received the Law as transmitted by angels but have not kept it.”

⁵³ustedes que recibieron la Ley según fue transmitida por ángeles, pero no la han guardado”.

(12-22) ¹²Then Jehovah’s angel appeared to him and said to him: “Jehovah is with you, you valiant, mighty one.” ¹³At this Gideon said to him: “Excuse me, my lord, but if Jehovah is with us, then why has all this come upon us, and where are all his wonderful acts that our fathers related to us, saying, ‘Was it not out of Egypt that Jehovah brought us up?’ And now Jehovah has deserted us, and he gives us into the palm of Midian.” ¹⁴Upon that Jehovah faced him and said: “Go in this power of yours, and you will certainly save Israel out of Midian’s palm. Do I not send you?” ¹⁵In turn he said to him: “Excuse me, Jehovah. With what shall I save Israel? Look! My thousand is the least in Manasseh, and I am the smallest in my father’s house.” ¹⁶But Jehovah said to him: “Because I shall prove to be with you, and you will certainly strike down Midian as if one man.”

¹⁷At this he said to him: “If, now, I have found favor in your eyes, you must also perform a sign for me that you are the one speaking with me. ¹⁸Do not, please, move away from here until I come to you and I have brought out my gift and set it before you.” Accordingly he said: “I, for my part, shall keep sitting here until you return.” ¹⁹And Gideon went in and proceeded to make ready a kid of the goats and an ephah of flour as unfermented cakes. The meat he put in the basket, and the broth he put in the cooking pot, after which he brought it out to him under the big tree and served it.

²⁰The angel of the [true] God now said to him: “Take the meat and the unfermented cakes and set them on the big rock there, and pour out the broth.” At that he did so. ²¹Then Jehovah’s angel thrust out the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unfermented cakes, and fire began to ascend out of the rock and to consume the meat and the unfermented cakes. As for Jehovah’s angel, he vanished from his sight. ²²Consequently Gideon realized that it was Jehovah’s angel.

At once Gideon said: “Alas, Sovereign Lord Jehovah, for the reason that I have seen Jehovah’s angel face to face!”

(12-22) ¹²When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” ¹³“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” ¹⁴The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” ¹⁵“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” ¹⁶The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” ¹⁷Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. ¹⁸Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.” ¹⁹Gideon went inside, prepared a young goat, and from an ephah of flour he made bread without yeast. Putting the meat in a basket and its broth in a pot, he brought them out and offered them to him under the oak. ²⁰The angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened bread, place them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” And Gideon did so. ²¹Then the angel of the LORD touched the meat and the unleavened bread with the tip of the staff that was in his hand. Fire flared from the rock, consuming the meat and the bread. And the angel of the LORD disappeared. ²²When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”

(12-22) ¹²Entonces el ángel de Jehová se le apareció y le dijo: “Jehová está contigo, oh valiente y poderoso”. ¹³Ante esto, le dijo Gedeón: “Dispénsame, señor mío, pero si Jehová está con nosotros, ¿entonces por qué nos ha sobrevenido todo esto, y dónde están todos sus actos maravillosos que nos contaron nuestros padres, diciendo: ‘¿No fue de Egipto de donde Jehová nos hizo subir?’? Y ahora Jehová nos ha abandonado, y nos da en la palma de la mano de Madián”. ¹⁴Por lo cual Jehová se volvió hacia él y dijo: “Ve en este poder tuyo, y ciertamente salvarás a Israel de la palma de la mano de Madián. ¿No te envío yo?”. ¹⁵A su vez, él le dijo: “Dispénsame, Jehová. ¿Con qué salvaré yo a Israel? ¡Mira! El millar mío es el más pequeño de Manasés, y yo soy el más chico de la casa de mi padre”. ¹⁶Pero Jehová le dijo: “Porque yo resultaré estar contigo, y ciertamente derribarás a Madián como si fuera un solo hombre”.

¹⁷Ante esto, él le dijo: “Pues, si he hallado favor a tus ojos, entonces me tienes que ejecutar una señal de que tú eres el que está hablando conmigo. ¹⁸Por favor, no te muevas de aquí hasta que venga a ti y haya sacado mi regalo y lo haya puesto delante de ti”. Por consiguiente, él dijo: “Yo, por mi parte, me quedaré sentado aquí hasta que vuelvas”. ¹⁹Y Gedeón entró y procedió a aderezar un cabrito de las cabras y un efá de harina como tortas no fermentadas. La carne la puso en la cesta, y el caldo lo puso en la olla, después de lo cual se lo sacó debajo del árbol grande y lo sirvió.

²⁰El ángel del Dios [verdadero] ahora le dijo: “Toma la carne y las tortas no fermentadas y colócalas sobre aquella roca grande, y derrama el caldo”. Ante eso, él lo hizo. ²¹Entonces el ángel de Jehová alargó la punta del bastón que estaba en su mano y tocó la carne y las tortas no fermentadas, y fuego empezó a ascender de la roca y a consumir la carne y las tortas no fermentadas. En cuanto al ángel de Jehová, desapareció de su vista. ²²Por lo tanto Gedeón se dio cuenta de que era el ángel de Jehová.

En seguida dijo Gedeón: “¡Ay, Señor Soberano Jehová, por causa de que he visto al ángel de Jehová cara a cara!”.

(11-17) ¹¹But Jehovah’s angel began calling to him out of the heavens and saying: “Abraham, Abraham!” to which he answered: “Here I am!” ¹²And he went on to say: “Do not put out your hand against the boy and do not do anything at all to him, for now I do know that you are God-fearing in that you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.” ¹³At that Abraham raised his eyes and looked and there, deep in the foreground, there was a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering in place of his son. ¹⁴And Abraham began to call the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. This is why it is customarily said today: “In the mountain of Jehovah it will be provided.”

¹⁵And Jehovah’s angel proceeded to call to Abraham the second time out of the heavens ¹⁶and to say: “‘By myself I do swear,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘that by reason of the fact that you have done this thing and you have not withheld your son, your only one, ¹⁷I shall surely bless you and I shall surely multiply your seed like the stars of the heavens and like the grains of sand that are on the seashore; and your seed will take possession of the gate of his enemies.

(11-17) ¹¹But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” ¹²“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” ¹³Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. ¹⁴So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” ¹⁵The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time ¹⁶and said, “I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, ¹⁷I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,

(11-17) ¹¹Pero el ángel de Jehová se puso a llamarlo desde los cielos y a decir: “¡Abrahán, Abrahán!”, a lo cual él contestó: “¡Aquí estoy!”. ¹²Y pasó a decir: “No extiendas tu mano contra el muchacho y no le hagas nada, porque ahora sé de veras que eres temeroso de Dios, puesto que no has retenido de mí a tu hijo, tu único”. ¹³En esto Abrahán alzó los ojos y miró, y allí, a poca distancia enfrente de él, había un carnero prendido por los cuernos en un matorral. De modo que Abrahán fue y tomó el carnero y lo ofreció como ofrenda quemada en lugar de su hijo. ¹⁴Y Abrahán se puso a llamar aquel lugar por nombre Jehová-yiré. Por eso se acostumbra decir hoy: “En la montaña de Jehová se proveerá”.

¹⁵Y el ángel de Jehová procedió a llamar a Abrahán por segunda vez desde los cielos ¹⁶y a decir: “‘Por mí mismo de verasjuro —es la expresión de Jehová—que por motivo de que has hecho esta cosa y no has retenido a tu hijo, tu único, ¹⁷yo de seguro te bendeciré y de seguro multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas de los cielos y como los granos de arena que hay en la orilla del mar; y tu descendencia tomará posesión de la puerta de sus enemigos.

(37-38) ³⁷“This is the Moses that said to the sons of Israel, ‘God will raise up for YOU from among YOUR brothers a prophet like me.’ ³⁸This is he that came to be among the congregation in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai and with our forefathers, and he received living sacred pronouncements to give YOU.

(37-38) ³⁷“This is the Moses who told the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your own people.’ ³⁸He was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors; and he received living words to pass on to us.

(37-38) ³⁷”Este es el Moisés que dijo a los hijos de Israel: ‘Dios les levantará a ustedes de entre sus hermanos un profeta semejante a mí’. ³⁸Este es el que llegó a estar entre la congregación en el desierto, con el ángel que le habló en el monte Sinaí y con nuestros antepasados, y él recibió vivas y sagradas declaraciones formales para darlas a ustedes.

(1-2) ¹Then Jehovah’s angel went up from Gilgal to Bochim and said: “I proceeded to bring YOU up out of Egypt and to bring YOU into the land about which I swore to YOUR forefathers. Furthermore, I said, ‘Never shall I break my covenant with YOU. ²And for YOUR part, YOU must not conclude a covenant with the inhabitants of this land. Their altars YOU should pull down.’ But YOU have not listened to my voice. Why have YOU done this?

(1-2) ¹The angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you, ²and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall break down their altars.’ Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this?

(1-2) ¹Entonces el ángel de Jehová subió de Guilgal a Bokim y dijo: “Yo procedí a hacerlos subir de Egipto y a introducirlos en la tierra acerca de la cual juré a sus antepasados. Además, dije yo: ‘Nunca romperé mi pacto con ustedes. ²Y en cuanto a ustedes, no deben celebrar un pacto con los habitantes de esta tierra. Sus altares los deben demoler’. Pero ustedes no han escuchado mi voz. ¿Por qué han hecho esto?

³As for the angel of Jehovah, he spoke to Elijah the Tishbite: “Rise up, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, ‘Is it because there is no God at all in Israel that YOU are going to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?

³But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’

³En cuanto al ángel de Jehová, habló a Elías el tisbita: “Levántate, sube al encuentro de los mensajeros del rey de Samaria y diles: ‘¿Será por no haber Dios alguno en Israel por lo que ustedes están yendo a inquirir de Baal-zebub, el dios de Eqrón?

¹³After they had withdrawn, look! Jehovah’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: “Get up, take the young child and its mother and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I give you word; for Herod is about to search for the young child to destroy it.”

¹³When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

¹³Después que se hubieron retirado, ¡mire!, el ángel de Jehová se apareció en un sueño a José, y dijo: “Levántate, toma al niñito y a su madre, y huye a Egipto, y quédate allá hasta que yo te diga; porque Herodes está para buscar al niñito para destruirlo”.
